Multiple database connectivity with one database access layer
Due to the unique Querix Dynamic SQL and Data Type translator, no matter which RDBMS you use, or how many, you will only need one code steam. While with other languages you will need a different code streams, to cope with the Data Access Layer. This also means reduced maintenance and less administration time for you.
Lycia supports 18 of the major platforms and operating systems, as well as most of the major database vendors. It provides dynamic translation from Informix-style SQL and datatypes to the target database vendor's style. The following databases are currently supported:
Informix IDS/SE/OnLine (via I-Client SDK)
Oracle 8i/9i/10g/11g (via OCI)
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 2008 (via ODBC)
IBM DB2 (via DB2-CLI)
Pervasive (via ODBC)
MySQL (via ODBC)
PostgreSQL (via ODBC)

Querix is currently going to provide native connectivity and dynamic SQL & datatype translation for a number of other databases. These are currently supported without dynamic SQL translation:

Adabas
Sybase
Xbase
Lycia can also switch databases at runtime. This completely new feature allows a single 4GL application to connect to any supported database without the need for recompilation.
